Eleanor C. Irwin, 87, of Indiana, PA, died Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at Indiana Regional Medical Center.



A daughter of Thomas Joseph and Mary Eleanor (Hoare) Irwin, she was born on September 12, 1921, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.



Ms. Irwin was a member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church in Indiana. She was a beloved sister and friend. Eleanor had worked as a personnel officer for the federal Dept. of Agriculture before her retirement.



She is survived by her sister, Elaine T. Schimsky and husband David of Indiana, PA; and her best friend Max.



She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers: Thomas and Edward Irwin.



There will be no public visitation. Friends are invited to attend her funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. William J. Kiel as celebrant. Private interment will take place in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Philadelphia.
