Obituary for Frank A. "Toby" Angelo

Frank A. "Toby"  Angelo
Frank Albert Angelo, 98, Indiana, died Friday, June 10, 2016 at the Beacon Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born, November 2, 1917 in Homer City, he was a son of the late Alex Angelo and Mary (Baldini) Angelo. He was widowed from his wife of 60 years, Gladys Genevieve (Gallusi) Angelo who died March 19, 2007.

Frank was a 1938 graduate of the Homer City High School in Homer City. Following high school he joined the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Cannon Company, 60th Infantry Division, seeing action in Algeria-French Morocco, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Sicily and Tunisia and received the European-African- Middle Eastern Service Medal. He is a Life member of the Indiana VFW, Post 1989.

Frank worked for the Peoples Natural Gas Company in Indiana as an appliance serviceman for 30 years, retiring in 1982.

He loved to work in his basement and enjoyed refurbishing his home. He was very proud of his garden, especially his beautiful tomatoes. His favorite past-time was being home with his family, and spent many hours with his grandchildren who were an immense joy to him.

Frank is survived by his children: David Angelo, Indiana, PA; Marilyn (Angelo) Nixon & husband, Michael, Fernandina Beach, Fl; Rita (Angelo) Forhan & husband, Paul, El Paso, TX; and Mark Angelo &wife, Holly, Cherry Tree. His surviving grandchildren are: Martin Angelo, Happy Jack, AZ; David Warren Angelo, Indiana, PA; Matthew Nixon, Orlando, FL; Frank Carter Angelo, Madison, WI; and Andrew Vasbinder, Ahoskie, NC. He is also survived by his brother, George “Dutch” Angelo, Homer City.

In addition to his wife and parents, Frank wes preceded in death by his siblings: Josephine Basciano, Joseph Angelo and Samuel Carnabuci.

Friends will be received Monday, June 13th from 5:00 to 9:00 PM at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning at ten o’clock at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church, Indiana. Entombment will be in the church mausoleum.
