Maryann  Allshouse (Ireland)
Maryann Allshouse, 97, of Indiana, died Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Bethany Place. Born, May 22, 1919 in Sagamore, Armstrong County, she was the daughter of James and Margaret (Johnston) Ireland. She was the widow of Dorsey Alexander Allshouse, to whom she married March 27, 1943. They were married 45 years until his passing in 1988.

Maryann graduated from Zelienople High School. Upon moving to Indiana, she was a cook at the Rustic Lodge for many years and also worked at the auction barn in Homer City. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she participated in the choir, helped at church bazaars and cooked for meals and funeral dinners.

Maryann was always making gifts and baked goods for others. Her apple pie was a special treat for friends and family. In addition to baking and cooking, she also enjoyed sewing, crocheting and knitting.

She is survived by her children: Rodney J. Allshouse and wife Virginia; Janet L. Hill and husband Nelson; and Carol A. Donahue, all of Indiana. Eight grandchildren also survive her: Chris Donahue, Jeannie Santoro, Molly Raraigh, Becky Skillin, Jim Allshouse, Jeff Hill, Greg Hill and Joe Hill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandson, Mark Alan Allshouse and by siblings: Alex Ireland, Betty Freidt, Isabel Collins and Janet Ireland.

Friends will be received Friday, August 12, from 6-9 PM at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home, of Indiana. Her funeral service will be held Saturday, August 13th at 11 AM, at Zion Lutheran Church, Indiana. There will be a visitation hour at church from 10 until 11 AM. Rev. Arlene Schweitzer, officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 100 S. 6th Street, Indiana, PA 15701.
