Ronald L. Long
Ronald Lee Long, 70, of Indiana, died Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born February 18, 1946 in Indiana, he was a son of the late John S. Long and Lucinda C. (McCunn) Long. He and his wife, Cynthia (Hutchins) Long celebrated forty-seven years of marriage on August 16th.

Ron was a graduate of Indiana High School and a Vietnam War Veteran who served in the U.S. Army. He retired from the Pennsylvania American Water Company in 2008 where he was a water treatment plant operator.

Ron was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Indiana serving as a trustee, an ICCAP Food Bank volunteer, and a participant in three mission trips to Haiti. He was active in local and state Trout Unlimited, serving as president of the local Ken Sink chapter and council boards. He was also a member of Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, National Wild Turkey Federation and the National Rifle Association. Ron never met a stranger and enjoyed greeting everyone on Sunday morning. While all of these were important to him, Ron’s greatest love was for his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is also survived by his siblings: Alice Deemer, Ashtabula, OH; Marjorie Hutchins and husband, Ronald, Sigel, PA; sister-in-law, Mildred “Boots” (Chilinsky) Long, Lake City, PA and sister-in-law, Sue Hutchins, Avalon, PA. Other family survivors include several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John S. Long Jr.; and by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Doris Hutchins.

Friends will be received Thursday, August 25th from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Indiana. Additional visitation will be held Friday morning from 10 – 11AM, prior to the funeral service at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 398 Church St., Indiana. Rev. Greg Golden will officiate.
