Obituary for Francis Aurelius Previte

Francis Aurelius Previte, 68, of Indiana, died Saturday, February 4, 2017, at home surrounded by family. He was born June 22, 1948 in Indiana and was a son of Aurelius Previte and the late Maxine Elizabeth (Kramp) Previte. He married Merry (Hallstrom) Previte on October 4, 1986, they had been married for 30 years.

Francis graduated from Indiana Senior High School in 1966 then attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he received a BS in chemistry and participated in ROTC graduating as a 2nd Lieutenant. After graduation, he was stationed at Fort Bliss, TX and then assigned to the Air Defense Artillery along the 38th Parallel in Korea where he was in charge of a firing platoon at the Hawk Missile site. After a 13 month tour, he returned to Fort Bliss, TX where he was promoted to 1st Lieutenant and received an army commendation medal for meritorious service. After returning to Indiana, he worked as the supervisor of the Indiana Water Treatment Plant and retired after 36 years in 2009.

He was an avid outdoors man who loved to hunt, fish, camp, and tend to his vegetable garden. Francis enjoyed cheering for the Steelers. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 1989, the Red Barn Sportsman Club, and the Eagles Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, father, and siblings: John Previte and wife Linda, Indiana; Joseph Previte & friend Susan, Indiana; Raymond Previte, Rochester Mills; and Mary Louise Moorhead and husband Dennis, Indiana. Also survived by his nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, whom he adored.

He was preceded in death by his mother and a great nephew, James Aurelius Previte.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning, February 7th, at 10:00 AM at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will be held at St. Bernard Cemetery.

The Previte family is being assisted by the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Indiana.
