Obituary for Charles "Buck" Rushton

Charles "Buck"  Rushton
Charles W. “Buck” Rushton, Sr., 85,Dixonville, unexpectedly died at his home Monday, February 13, 2017. Born in Huntingdon County, December 1, 1931, he was the son of the late James Rushton and Estele (Lambing) Rushton.

He was widowed from his wife of 46 years, Juliana C. (Sarnovsky) Rushton who died July 7, 2004.

Buck served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He later became a welder working for various coal mining companies in the area. He finished his career as a welder in the early 1990’s working for Bob Head.

Mowing grass was an enjoyable pastime for Buck. He was in charge of cutting the grass at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Dixonville for the past twenty-four years. He loved all of the family pets and had a warm spot in his heart for his neighbor dog Bo, who visited him daily. Buck also liked hunting, gardening and growing flowers around his home.

He was a member of the Clymer American Legion Post 222 and the Dixonville MOOSE.

He is survived by his children: Joan Petrisko & husband, Francis, Northern Cambris; Karen Rellick & husband, Christopher, Clymer; Charles “Bill” Rushton, Jr., Dixonville and Robert “Bob” Rushton, Dixonville. Other survivors include: grandsons, Francis Petrisko, Northern Cambria and Todd Petrisko, Cresson; sister, Betty Strickland, Warren, OH and step-brother, Ken Krolick and wife, Carol, Idamar.

In addition to his wife and parents, Buck was preceded in death by: daughter, Diane Rushton; step-father, Joe Krolick and siblings, Shirley Yuhasz, Dollie Peles and James “Del” Rushton.

Friends will be received Thursday, February 16th from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Clymer where his funeral service will be held Friday morning at 10 AM. Deacon Stephen Black will officiate. Burial following military honors will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Dixonville.
