Obituary for Mark E. Shields
Mark Edward Shields, 57, of Clymer, died Friday, April 21, 2017 at his home. Born in Indiana on September 17, 1959 he was a son of the late Charles Shields and Patricia (Stahl) Shields.
He was a proud father of one son, three daughters and was a loving grandfather of four. He truly loved his family. Mark was an avid sports fan having been a former softball pitcher. He continued to watch the games from the stands as he got older. He also supported the Clymer Little League. When he was at home, Mark always watched the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins.
He will be sadly missed by his children: Kenneth Shields & wife, Bethany, Clymer; Kayla D. Shields & fiancé, Shawn, Penn Run; Crystal M. McClure & husband, Shane, Atlantic Beach, NC; and Carrie A. Kirsch & husband, Jared, New Bern, NC. His surviving grandchildren are: Rylan Gunter, Logan Shields, Brody Kirsch and Hannah Shields. Mark is also survived by his siblings: David Shields, Indiana; Marjorie Shields, Clymer; Kimberly Naugle, Clymer and Jeffrey Shields, Heilwood.
In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his sisters: Barbara Shields and Cheryl Detwiler.
A gathering of friends will be held Tuesday, April 25th from 4 – 6 PM at Morning Star Ministries Social Hall in Starford. A Memorial Service will begin at 6 PM with Pastor Ken Brown officiating. Service arrangements are with the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Clymer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Clymer Little League, c/o Tricia Goncher, P.O. Box 292, Dixonville, PA 15734
