Roy Dean Ackerson, 76, of Clymer, PA, died May 5, 2017 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born in Cherry Hill Township, May 21, 1940, he was a son of the late Jay Ackerson and Viola (Makin) Ackerson. He was married to Nancy Jane (Kern) Ackerson for nearly 53 years.

You could always find Roy at home reading his newspaper or watching the news. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his dog, Mia.

He is survived by his wife Nancy and his two stepchildren: Debbie Smith and Andrew, Saratoga Springs, NY; Jim Smith & wife Sis, Clymer; and his daughter Melissa Marshall & husband Melvin, Indiana. His four grandchildren: Jimmy Smith & wife Kristy; Jessica Snyder & husband Jason; Brandon Smith & wife Lauren; and Jenna Tanner & husband Erik. Also, nine great-grandchildren and his dog Mia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

In accordance to Roy’s wishes all services will be private. The Ackerson family is being assisted by the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Clymer.
