Obituary for Rita Jean Hodak (Coursel)

Rita Jean  Hodak (Coursel)
Rita Jean (Coursel) Hodak, 61, of Diamondville, died Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her family. Born in Mishawauka, IN, July 12, 1955, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Gladys (Grott) Coursel. On March 25, 1976, she married her husband nearly 41 years, William Shan Hodak, Sr.

She enjoyed spending quality time with family, reading, and baking. Rita had a strong faith in God. She was a lifelong Indianapolis Colts fan and got to see the Cubs win the World Series in her lifetime.

She is survived by her husband Shan and their two daughters: Carrie (Hodak) Norris & husband Tom, Greensburg; and Kelly (Hodak) Swigart and husband Jeff, Creekside. Her 5 grandchildren: Kalee Hill, Kimberlee Hill, Olivia Norris, all of Greensburg; Brian Foehrenbach, Indiana; and Brenna Hodak, Creekside. 5 siblings: Ralph Coursel, Chuck Coursel & wife Franci (Shaia), Mary Jo Meeks & husband Mike, Sally Williams & husband Gene, all of Michigan City, IN, and Karen Edwards & husband Kevin of New Buffalo, MI. Also, many nieces and nephews, important friends: Nancy Russel, Michigan City, IN; Kathy Scanlon-Davis & husband Ernie, Niles, MI; and Ariel & Linda Rosa, Chicago, IL. Mother-in-law: Francis Henderson, and sister-in-law: Linda Davis, both of Homestead, FL.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: an infant daughter, Cathy Michelle Hodak; youngest brother, Thomas Coursel; father-in-law, William (Wasko) Hodak; and sister-in-law, Cathy Hodak Gruber.
Friends will be received Saturday, July 1st, from 4:00 until 6:00PM at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Clymer. Final disposition will be held at the convenience of the family.

The Hodak Family would like to thank Delca Smith and Peggy Patterson, from the VNA Hospice, for their heartfelt compassion and excellent care that was given to Rita.
