Mary E. (Cassidy) Freno, of Marion Center, died Thursday July 6, 2017, surrounded by her three daughters at the Indiana Regional Medical Center. She was born to Jennings “Jinx” Cassidy and Jane (Ake) Cassidy, on July 7, 1938. She married John Carl Freno on March 11, 1966, and they were together for 47 years up until his death on September 20, 2013.

She graduated from Purchase Line High School in 1956 and in 1985 she received her cosmetology license. She worked as a personal care giver which she truly loved and enjoyed until March of this year. Mary had a big heart and loved the elderly. She will be greatly missed by many.

Mary had a strong faith in Jesus and loved worshipping the Lord. She recited a special devotional prayer daily. She had attended Kinport Assembly of God and had also visited the Saving Grace Church, in Indiana. She loved playing her piano, singing, and dancing, especially to the song Mambo #5. She also enjoyed bowling, golfing, riding her bike, and was a great shopper. Every year you could find Mary at Virginia Beach soaking up the sun and spending time with her family. She also loved visiting her sister Helen in Florida of which she truly loved.

She is survived by her three daughters: Jaqueline Wright (Ronald), Louisiana; Terri Neale (Dave), Punxsutawney; Tammy Lucas (Edward) Indiana; and a step-son Timothy Babco (Jaimie), Louisiana. Her grandchildren: Chane Lundberg; Ashley Cooper (Devon); Carmen Conner (Brad); Joshua Hopkins (Jill); DJ Hopkins (Kayla); Paige, John Michael, & McKenzie Lucas, Nick & Ashley Wright; Jason, Mark, Skye, & Jaysa Neale; Timmy & Caitlin Babco. Great Grandchildren: Jianna & Jemma Hopkins; LaighLa, Laikan, & Jesiah Hopkins; Vayda Conner; Isabella Cooper. She is also survived by her sister Helen Knapik (Albert) (Children: Kara & Chad), Clermont, FL. Brother-in-Laws: Andy Freno (Nancy); Bob Freno (Lynn); and Elmer Gromley. Sister-in-laws: Anna Mae Bailey; Janet Cassidy; Betty Mattis (Tom); Jennie Zimniski; and Janet Cassidy, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, husband, and the following siblings: Jennings “Jack” Cassidy; Dean “Dino” Cassidy; and Dorothy “Dot” Gromley.

A memorial service will be held at the Kinport Assembly of God church in Cherry Tree on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 6:00 p.m.
