Obituary for Shirley Anne Edder (Colbert)

Shirley Anne  Edder (Colbert)
Shirley Anne (Colbert) Edder, 82 of Murrieta, CA, formerly of Indiana, died at her home, Tuesday July 18, 2017. Born to the late Ralph E. Colbert and Helen M. (Illig) Colbert, on February 10, 1935 she married Leonard M. “Mac” Edder December 28, 1990. They were together for nearly 23 years until his death, October 25, 2013.

Shirley graduated from Bloomsburg High School in 1952. She became the manager at the Indiana Senior Social Center, a position she held for over 25 years. Shirley was also involved with the Indiana Community Action Program, Senior Opportunities and Services, and Aging Services Inc. She attended the Calvary Presbyterian Church, Indiana with her late husband, Mac.

After nearly 50 years in Indiana Shirley moved to Murrieta, CA to live with her daughter, Susan and family. Shirley enjoyed reading, working on crossword puzzles, and playing cards. She also enjoyed dancing, going out to dinner, golfing, bowling and going to the beach. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, who will dearly miss her.

She is survived by her three children: Robert E. Lonsdale (Joanne), Indiana; Scott L. Lonsdale (Sharon), Lake Tapps, WA; and Susan L. Rockhold (Mark), Murrieta, CA. Other survivors include her brother, Robert E. Colbert Jr., Newark, DE, as well as 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many loved brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and the following siblings: Barbara Jean Dawson and Sherman R. Colbert.

Friends will be received at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Indiana on Tuesday, July 25th, from 6-8 PM. Her funeral service will be held Wednesday morning at 10 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
