Obituary for Dorothy L. Sturgeon (Ashbaugh)

Dorothy L. (Ashbaugh) Sturgeon, 92 of Clymer, died Sunday August 13, 2017 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center. Born in Cookport on September 11, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Mabon Ashbaugh and Leda (Henry) Ashbaugh. She was the widow of John Edward Sturgeon who died April 3, 1997. They were married December 24, 1946, sharing 50 years of marriage and raising eight children.
She was formerly a nurse at Indian Haven nursing home and had also worked for Season-All Industries, both of Indiana. The shining spot of her life was her grandchildren. She loved them with all of her heart. Of course she loved all kids and always had time for her own family.
Dorothy is survived by her children: James Sturgeon, Hastings; Carol Miles & husband Earl, Blairsville; Richard Sturgeon & wife Shirley, Penn Run; John Sturgeon & wife Tabitha, Clymer; Duane Sturgeon, Clymer; Janet Stumpf & husband James, Shelocta; Timothy Sturgeon & wife Deb, Appomattox, VA; and Mark Sturgeon & wife Donna, Clymer. Also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by a grandson, and the following siblings: William Ashbaugh; Elmer Clair Ashbaugh; Geraldine Holmes; Jean Mumau; Betty Stoic; Genevieve Harrison; Joanne Poling; and Patty Hagerman.
Friends will be received Tuesday evening, August 15thfrom 6-8PM at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Clymer, where her funeral service will be Wednesday morning at eleven o’clock with Rev. Robert White officiating. Burial will be made in the East Mahoning Cemetery, Purchase Line.
