Obituary for Edward Shedlock

Edward  Shedlock
Edward Shedlock, 97, of Clymer, died at his home on Thursday, December 14, 2017. Born in Winburne, Clearfield County, PA, he was a son of the late, Vincent Shedlock and Julia (Patson) Shedlock. He was a widower following the death of his wife, Dorothy (Lewis) Shedlock on September 15, 2009..

Ed served his country as a soldier in the U.S. Army during two wars, World War II and the Korean War.

Before and after his service in the Army, Ed worked as a coal miner. During a career that spanned more than 60 years, Ed had worked for various coal companies in the area including: Greenwich Collieries, R & P Coal Company, Buterbaugh’s Coal Company and the Cherryhill Mines.

Ed was the oldest member of the Clymer American Legion Post 222. He also belonged to the Dixonville Moose. Ed enjoyed being outdoors where he liked to hunt, fish and trap. He went to many yard sales and flea markets. Ed also liked to work on cars, read western themed books and offer help and assistance to his family and friends. He was a very caring man.

Ed would do anything and everything for his family because he loved them so dearly. He also loved his many pets and animals that he cared for at his home.

He is survived by his children: Edward C. Shedlock (Grace), Strongsville, OH; Richard R. “Dusty” Shedlock, Clymer; William J. Shedlock (Joanne), Clymer; John Michael Shedlock, Indiana; and Keven Scott Shedlock (Michelle), Clymer. His grandchildren are: Theresa Webb, Edward Shedlock, Missy Miller, Bethann Alsippi, Todd Shedlock, John Wickens, Elizabeth Wickens, Jessica Shedlock, Kyle Shedlock and Jacob Shedlock. Surviving great grandchildren are: Sean, Zach and Michel Shedlock; Thomas, Conner, Alisha and Alissa Alsippi; Victor and Gabby Santiago, and Landon and Aiden Karpik, Austin, Chad and Chloe. Ed will also be remembered by his numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his children: David Dale Shedlock and Sandra M. Weston; grandsons: Michael and Luke Anthony Shedlock; sisters: Mariam Bergenstock, Margarite Suwolitch and Olga Phillips.

Friends will be received Saturday, December 16th from 5 until 7 PM at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Clymer where his funeral service will begin at seven o’clock at the funeral home. Rev. Robert White will officiate. Burial will be made in the Oakland Cemetery, Indiana.
