Obituary for Janet Catherine Rummell (Lantzy)

Janet Catherine Rummell (Lantzy)
Janet Catherine (Lantzy) Rummell, 71, of Indiana, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, at Indiana Regional Medical Center.

Born in Coral on Aug. 20, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Frank H. Lantzy and Twila (Butler) Lantzy.

She was a graduate of Laura Lamar High School, Homer City, also attending one year at the Indiana County Vo-Tech School for her certificate as a nursing assistant (CNA). Janet worked as a CNA at Green Oakes Personal Care Home and the county nursing home (Communities at Indian Haven). She also worked for I&A Residential Services in Indiana as a resident program worker.

Janet had a true compassion for helping others. She was a caregiver for many young neighborhood children, as well as for many of her elderly neighbors and friends. She devoted much of her life to raising her twin sons, David and Daniel, and caring for her late disabled daughter, Sherri Lynn.

She enjoyed dancing and listening to oldies music. She also liked to bowl, watch television and visit with her neighbors, friends, family and her grandchildren.

Janet is survived by her sons, David M. Rummell (companion, Diane), Indiana, and Daniel M. Rummell (wife, Donna), Homer City. Her four grandchildren are: Danielle Manos (James), Lindsay Rummell, Michael Rummell and David James Rummell. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews and by her companion, Davis Foreman, Palmerton.

In addition to her parents and daughter, she was preceded in death by her grandmother Laura Grace Lantzy.

Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Indiana. Her funeral service will be held Saturday morning at 11 a.m. Pastor Glenn Probst will officiate. Burial will be in the West Lebanon Cemetery.
