Obituary for John Felichko

John  Felichko
John B. Felichko, 71, of Clymer, passed away at Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond, VA on May 23, 2018, surrounded by family. The son of the late Paul Felichko and Evelyn (Utberg) Felichko, he was born September 1st, 1946. He was married to Marie (Oterson) Felichko, of Clymer.

An avid outdoorsman, John enjoyed fishing, hunting, and going to his camp in Tidioute. He also liked gardening and spending time in his deer house that his wife Marie built for him after he retired. They spent 10 beautiful years enjoying the scenery together on Abel Road.

He was a member of the Clymer Slovak Club, and a lifelong member of the Dixonville Moose, and United Mine Workers. He was also a member of the Church of the Resurrection, Clymer.

John worked as an Electrical Mine Inspector for over 20 years, later becoming a Federal Mine Inspector.

In addition to his wife Marie, John is survived by his children: Cynthia Bence, Hopewell; Carol Polenik (Jeff), Clymer; Step-Daughter, Cathy Strojni, Richmond, VA; and a niece who he raised like a daughter, Brenda Pampe, Lancaster. His grandchildren: Matt Bence, Sarah Bence, Jessica Polenik, Katelyn Polenik, Joshua Walker, and Justina Walker. His great-grandchildren: Madison Bence, Brooklyn Bence, and Ryker Walker. The following siblings: Paul Felichko, Johnstown; George Felichko (Karen), Indiana; Roseann Busovicki (John), Clymer; Jean Lenz (George), Indiana; and Diana Fatula (Jeff), Clymer as well as many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia (Pampe) Felichko, his son, Joseph Felichko, and his brother, Mike Felichko.

Visitations will be held Monday, May 28 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM at the Rairigh-Bence funeral home of Clymer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 10 AM at the Church of the Resurrection, Clymer. Reverend George Saletrik, celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation, in John’s name, be made to the AFA- Alzheimer’s Foundation of America charity. For reference: alzfdn.org
