Rosemary Palchesko Contrucci, 70, died August 14, 2018 on the eve of the feast day of the Assumption of the Blessed Mother, while at the ICU of the UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh.

“Rosie” was the daughter of Edward and Margaret (Barton) Palchesko and was born September 2, 1947.

Upon graduating from Penns Manor High School in 1965, she started to work for the District Attorney in Indiana as a legal secretary. Following his retirement, Rosie continued this line of work for another private law firm in Indiana. Then in 1999, she went to work for IUP as an Administrative Assistant for the translation Services Department.

Rosie was a member of St. Thomas More University Parish and always tried to get involved in different ministries at the church. She was also actively involved in the Society of St. Vincent DePaul in Indiana. She helped to coordinate the scheduling of interviews for people calling the help line needing assistance. She also worked as a volunteer at the Saint Vincent DePaul Thrift Store on Wednesdays and greatly enjoyed the friendship of the other volunteers.

Rosie is survived by her husband Lynn. They were married on May 6, 1972 and even though they were unable to have children, they were blessed to have a close personal involvement with sisters and brothers, nieces and nephews and their precious great nieces and nephews, who affectionately referred to her as RoRo.

Also surviving are her sisters and brothers: Margaret Macher of Cranberry Township; Kathy Lowder and her husband Gary, of Signal Mountain, TN; Edward Palchesko and his wife Bernadette of Lucernemines; Mark Palchesko and his wife Jackie, of Beaver, WV; and Julie Holby and her husband Ken, of Clymer. Rosie will also be remembered by her sister-in-law, Rosemary Markel and husband, Larry of Penn Run.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother-in-law, Marvin Macher and a sister-in-law, Donna Contrucci Gerlesky.

Friends will be received from 6 to 9PM tonight, Thursday, August 16th at Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10Am Friday, August 17th at St. Thomas More University Parish. Rev. Alan Polczynski, celebrant. Interment will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Rosie would have kindly suggested that a donation be made to St. Thomas More University Parish, 1200 Oakland Ave., Indiana, PA, or to the Society of St. Vincent DePaul at 200 Clairvaux Dr. Indiana, PA 15701.
