Obituary for Oscelletta McCreary

Oscelletta P. McCreary, 100, of Indiana and formerly of Philadelphia, died Monday, August 20, 2018 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center. Born in Alexandria, Virginia, August 2, 1918, she was a daughter of the late William H.R. Powell and Oscelletta (Davies) Powell.

She received an M.S. in Library Science from North Carolina College in Durham. Oscelletta worked for the Philadelphia Public Schools as a School Librarian, retiring in 1981.

A devote Christian woman, she was a former member of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Philadelphia and a current member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Indiana. She enjoyed reading, knitting, bible study, crossword puzzles and traveling.

Oscelletta will be dearly missed by her son, Charles R. McCreary and his wife, Irene Wallaert of Indiana. Other family survivors include her grandson, Kevin C. McCreary and many loving nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Preceding her in death were her: parents; husband, Charles R. McCreary, Sr. who died in 2008 and five siblings.

Friends will be received from 4 to 6PM, Wednesday, August 22nd at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Indiana. Her funeral service will be held Thursday afternoon, August 23rd at 2 PM at the Zion Lutheran Church in Indiana. Pastor Tedd Cogar will officiate. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Indiana.
