Obituary for Gary L Blazavich

Gary L. Blazavich, 69, of Clymer, died at home with family by his side on Wednesday, September 12, 2018. Born in Indiana August 2, 1949, he was a son of the late Alex and Elizabeth (Kosperski) Blazavich.

Gary served in the US Navy during the Vietnam era. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 222, including their military ritual team, where he was a historian and bugler. He was a coal miner, having spent more than 20 years working for Rochester & Pittsburgh Coal. He later worked for the Indiana Gazette Printers.

He was a member of the Heilwood Sportsman’s Club and his hobbies included fishing and hunting. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Lois (Lydic); son, Brian, of Clymer; daughter, Tonya married to Michael Kendra, Jr. and their children, Erica and Emily, all of Strongstown; brother, Alex and wife Ellen, of Indiana; sisters, Debra and husband Duane Wheeler, of Driftwood, Janice and husband Robert Dunlevy, of Creekside, Cynthia and husband Earl Dickey, of Ohio; and, Antoinette Zack, of Clymer; Numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.

Friends will be received from 2-4PM and 6-8PM on Sunday, September 16th at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Clymer. Funeral service will be at 11AM on Monday, September 17th at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Clymer where a military ritual will be performed by American Legion Post 222. Interment will be private.
