Obituary for Yvonne Louise Dougherty (Mariskanish)

Yvonne Louise (Mariskanish) Dougherty, of Penn Run, passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer. She died peacefully at her home, surrounded by family, Sunday, October 14, 2018. Yvonne was 66 at the time of her death.

Yvonne is survived by her husband of 40 years, Gerard J. Dougherty and two married children and their spouses: a son, Brendan of Washington, DC and his wife, Roxanna, and a daughter, Casey Dougherty Gunsch and her husband, Matt, of Nanuet, NY. She is also survived by her five siblings and their spouses: Sandra Mariskanish Rockmore (Michael) of Myrtle Beach, SC; Mary Mariskanish Morfenski (David) of Penn Run; Cathy Mariskanish Lavelle (Phillip) of Houston, PA; Ann Marie Mariskanish Gialanella (Kenneth) of Adamsburg, PA; and Samuel Mariskanish, Jr. (Kelly) of Canonsburg, PA. She will be remembered by her many in-laws, nieces and nephews as well.

Yvonne was born, January 2, 1952 in Spangler, to Samuel and Anna Mariskanish who were life long residents of Pine Township, Indiana County. She was a member of the Penns Manor High School Class of 1969. She stayed in touch with many of her classmates throughout her life and enjoyed attending frequent Penns Manor reunions.

Yvonne worked as an administrative professional for most of her career, spending over 18 years in the IUP family having spent time in the Office of Housing and Food Service, Office of the Head Football Coach, and more recently, the Computer Science Department. She also spent time as an Administrative Assistant at West Chester University and Twin Valley School District in Chester County, PA. After leaving IUP in 2014, Yvonne finished her career last year as the Inventory Control Coordinator for the Gretz Beer Company in Hatfield, PA.

There will be no public services, in accordance with her wishes. A private memorial service will be held for Yvonne by her family at her residence.
