David Rairigh has spent his lifetime in the funeral business. He grew up in Hillsdale, the son of Albert E. Rairigh, where he and his family lived above the Albert E. Rairigh Funeral Home. David's grandfather, Harry D. "Dan" Rairigh and his great-grandfather, H.A. "Albert" Rairigh were funeral directors and had founded and established the family funeral business.
Dave graduated from Purchase Line High School in 1984. He attended California University of Pennsylvania where he received a degree in Communications. After living in Myrtle Beach, SC where he worked in radio and television, he returned home to Indiana County, working in news at WDAD until 1991. It was through this work that David met his future wife, Jennifer Brader, of Johnstown.
David attended Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, graduating in 1992. He was fortunate to serve his internship under his father at the family business in Hillsdale. Following the untimely deaths of Dave's parents, his sister took ownership of the family business and Dave sought out a business of his own.
From 2001 through 2012, David and his wife Jenny owned and operated the Kelchner-McMichael Funeral Home, later known as the McMichael & Rairigh Funeral Home, in Berwick, Pennsylvania. In 2012, they sold their business, having discovered the opportunity to return "home" to Indiana County and purchase the Bence Funeral Homes.David serves as the Licensed Supervisor of our Indiana location.
David's wife Jenny graduated from Westmont Hilltop High School in Johnstown. She received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from IUP. They have two children: Dan, who graduated from Franklin & Marshall College in May 2016 and completed his MA at the Middlebury Institute of Intenational Studies in Monterey, California in May 2019. Their daughter Kate recently graduated from the IUP Academy of Culinary Arts in Punxsutawney and is employed at the Boca Raton Resort, in Florida.Dave and Jenny reside in Indiana.
