Obituary for James Francis Yanity

James Francis Yanity, 84 of Indiana, died at his home on Saturday, September 17, 2016. Born July 13,1932 in Lucerne Mines, he was a son of the late Peter M. Yanity, and Irene E. (DeChurch) Yanity. He was the husband of Mary L. (Hewitt) Yanity, whom he married December 5, 1970. They were married for 45 years.

Jim was a graduate of Homer City High School and attended classes at Indiana State Teachers College (IUP) before taking classes at the Art Institute in Pittsburgh. He was the former owner and operator of the Penny Blue Gallery in Indiana and worked at the L. Robert Kimball Consulting Engineering Firm. Jim was also a Private First Class in the U.S Army, serving during the Korean War.

He enjoyed painting landscapes as well as drawing. In addition, Jim was an avid stamp collector.
He was a member of the Indiana Art Association; Historical and Genealogical Society of Indiana County; and the American Philatelic Society.

In addition to his wife, Mary, he is survived by his three children: Daniel J. Yanity & wife Megan, Butler; Amy Jo Yanity & husband Jon Lunn, Columbia, SC; and William J. Yanity, Pittsburgh. Jim is also survived by his three grandchildren: Emily Perna, Greensburg; Irene Yanity, Butler; and Cori Lunn, Columbia, SC.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Ralph Yanity.

A public visitation will be held Tuesday, September 20th from 4-7PM at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Indiana, where his funeral service will be held Wednesday morning, at 11AM at the funeral home. Rev. Father Ronald Cyktor, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery, Lucerne Mines.
