Mary Jane (Walker) Davis, 90, of Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2016, following a brief illness. She died at Indiana Regional Medical Center, surrounded by family.

A daughter of the late Edward and Bessie (Johns) Walker, Mary Jane was born on May 15, 1926 in New Florence. She met her husband Richard L. Davis while still in school and they married on November 13, 1947, when he returned from serving in World War II. They were together for 74 years and were married for nearly 68 years. Rich died on October 8, 2015.

Their marriage was blessed with four daughters: Shirley (Jerry) Ray, of Shelocta; Kathy Brewer, of Indiana; Karen (Patrick) McGuire, of Shelocta; and Tammy Davis, at home.

They moved to Indiana in 1952 into the house that is still their home. Mary Jane stayed home to raise their daughters. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, playing piano or organ, gardening and painting. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her close-knit family.

Mary Jane was a member of Shelocta Community Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her daughters, Mary Jane is survived by her sister-in-law, H. Jean Hill, of Freeport, IL; three grandchildren: (Grandma’s special love bug) Katie(Leczner) Rescenete and husband Mike, Adam Leczner, and Scott Jennings and wife Amy. Also surviving are four great-grandsons: Casey and Connor Jennings and Landon and Logan Rescenete.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Rich, two young brothers, Sister Helen “Shorty” (Walker) James and her husband Arthur, son-in-law Ronald Eugene Brewer and brothers-in-law James H. Davis and Victor Hill.

The family would like to thank VNA Hospice and the staff at IRMC for their compassionate care and support.
