Obituary for Emma Jackson (Shaffer)

Emma Jackson, 87 of Indiana, formerly of Homer City, died Monday July 24, 2017 at the Communities at Indian Haven. She had recently resided in the Rose Haven Personal Care Home, Indiana. Born April 10, 1930 in Penn Run, she was a daughter of the late Michael B. Shaffer and Hazel (McKendrick) Shaffer. She was the widow of William E. Jackson who died November 7, 1981.

In addition to raising her family and being a homemaker, Emma had previously worked for FMC in Homer City and Fisher Scientific in Indiana.

She was a longtime member of the Homer City United Methodist Church. She enjoyed being with her family, especially at family gatherings and around the holidays. Emma loved to take long walks around the Homer City area and always looked forward to camping trips.

Emma is survived by her children: William Jackson (Karen), N. Ridgeville, OH; Richard Jackson (Susan), Indiana; Gary Jackson (Carol), Blairsville; Debbie Henry (Bill), Homer City; and David Jackson (Dianna), Homer City. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, two step-great grandchildren and siblings: Ray Shaffer (Carol), Indiana, Betty Shoupe (Dean), Armagh and Barb Ruddock (Kevin), Homer City.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by siblings: Robert Shaffer, Aurthur Shaffer; Anna Mae McMasters; Paul Shaffer; Carl Shaffer.

Visitation is Thursday, July 27th from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8PM at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Indiana. Emma’s funeral service will be held Friday morning at eleven o’clock at the funeral home. Pastor Paul Morris will officiate. Burial will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana.
