Obituary for Patricia Ailes (Wyland)

Patricia Ann (Wyland) Ailes, 72, of Clymer, died Wednesday, August 2, 2017, surrounded by her family at the Indiana Regional Medical Center. She was born to Oliver Wyland and Ivory (Noble) Wyland, on July 3, 1945 in Leatherwood, Kentucky. She married Robert T. Ailes on October 19, 1963, together they shared 53 years of marriage and raised two children.

She graduated from Penns Manor High School in 1963 and later went on to graduate from the Indiana County Vo-Tech in 1980 as an LPN. She loved her job and enjoyed the elderly that she cared for while working 17 years for the Mountain View Nursing Home in Hillsdale.

Patricia was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She bravely battled cancer with a positive attitude, never once complaining about her struggles. She enjoyed crafting, quilting, baking, and gardening in her flower beds. She loved going camping at the Black Walnut Camp in Sinnemahoning. Pat was involved in many activities. She was a former head coach alongside Barba Paulina of the Marching Clymerettes Drill Team. She was also a president of The Penns Manor Band Parents Association, and was involved with the Clymer Elem PTA, which helped to establish the Block Parent Safety Program. She also volunteered for field trips. Pat enjoyed volunteering for the Clymer Little League, as well as with the Brownies, and Cub Scouts. She was a part of the Clymer Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary and loved to go to Clymer Days. She was a diehard cheerleader for her children and grandchildren, attending all of their sporting events, band concerts, and plays.

She is survived by her husband, Bob, and their two children: Traci M. Gerould, Canton; and Mark Ailes and wife Jennifer, Clymer. Also by her four grandchildren: Andrew Gerould, Canton; Brandon Ailes, Clymer; Hannah Walker and husband Harley, Topsail, NC; and Ian Ailes, Clymer. Two great-grandchildren: Bentley DeWitt, Canton; Landon Walker, Topsail, NC; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Alan Wyland.
