Obituary for John Greczek

John Greczek, 93, of Indiana, died Thursday, May 10, 2018 at the Communities at Indian Haven. Born in Huron, PA on April 28, 1925, he was a son of the late John M. Greczek and Angela (Harkelli) Greczek. He was the widower of Dorothy (Maynosz) Greczek, who died in 1982.

John was a World War II veteran who served in the Asiatic and Pacific Theatre of Operations. He was a lineman in the army working with telephones and telegraphs.

For many years, John was the manager of National Beer Sales in Indiana. He enjoyed watching many sporting events and playing cards. He especially enjoyed playing cards with his granddaughter, Tina. John will be most remembered for his continued devotion to his family. He will also be remembered for his generosity with his extended family at Clairvaux Commons.

He was a member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church.

John is survived by his two sons: Rodney J. Greczek (Linda), Homer City and Eric J. Greczek (Ann), Indiana. Other survivors include his granddaughter, Christina Nellis (Eli), Pittsburgh and the following siblings: Stanley Greczek, Coral; Kay Henry, Latrobe; and Agnes Jean Bertig (Elio), Pittsburgh.

John was preceded in death by his infant son John Jr. and his siblings Joseph, Frank and Marie Greczek and Ann Wellen, in addition to his wife and parents.

In keeping with John's request, a private funeral service has been arranged with the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Indiana. Burial will be made at St. Bernard’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be sent to 365 Hospice. The family sends a special thanks to the seventh-floor nursing staff at IRMC, 365 Hospice and Indian Haven Nursing Facility.
