Obituary for Clifford James Greene

Clifford James Greene
Clifford “Cliff” James Greene, Jr., 88, Aldie, VA, formerly of Pennsylvania went home to rejoice with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 14, 2018 following a period of declining health. He was a devoted husband of 67 years to Phyllis A. (Price) Greene whom he married nearly 67 years ago.

Born to Clifford J. and Irene (Brickell) Greene in Wilkinsburg PA, Cliff grew up in the Crown Meadows division of Pittsburgh and later at the family farm in Clymer, PA. Cliff met the sheer love of his life “Chud” and was married in 1951. Together they raised three wonderful children: David J. Greene (Emporium, PA), Reverend Dr. Douglas L. Greene (Fredericksburg, VA), and Carrie L. (Greene) Powers (Aldie, VA).

Cliff enjoyed a successful career in the Automotive Industry as a General Sales Manager in Virginia in addition to the Principal Dealer of Cliff Greene Motors, Emporium, PA. His reputation was renowned and sought after by many – though his loyalty remained with the Chevrolet brand. His faith defined him. Cliff attended the Indiana, Pennsylvania Bible Institute and served as a Deacon and as an Assistant Pastor in his church affiliations. Cliff was proud of his achievements in the Masonic community as a steward of the Mason mission to spread ethics and morality.

Cliff was a devoted fan of all things sports and unquestionably loyal to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, Penguins and the Pittsburgh Panthers. Nary a day went by that you would not catch him watching an event. Cliff enjoyed most, time with his family and will be remembered for his penchant of McDonalds Quarter-Pounder’s. No matter the occasion, a hamburger was all it took to make Cliff content.

In addition to his wife Phyllis (Price) Greene, siblings Margaret (deceased), Bill (Noreen) Greene, Mary Lou (Gilbert) Frick, Herb (Grace) Greene, Joyce DeLaurentiis, Mildred Head, Carson (Rose) Greene, Judy (Butch) Welty, Pete (Bernice) Greene, and Amy (Gary) Goss - Cliff is survived by his children: David J. Greene and his wife Laura of Emporium, PA; Reverend Dr. Douglas L. Greene and his wife Dawn of Fredericksburg, VA; and Carrie L. (Greene) Powers and her husband Bill of Aldie, VA; seven wonderful granddaughters who were the absolute joy of his life: Christie, Kellie, Audrie, Ashlie, Natalie, Alicia, and Patricia and 10 Great-Grandchildren: Baylie, Judah, Danillio, Kiera, Mia, Darian, Colin, Renee, Vivian, Noelle and pre-deceased by Great Grandson Luciano.

The family will receive visitors from 2-4p and 6-8p on Friday July 20, 2018 at Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home Inc., 655 Franklin Street Clymer, PA 15728.
