Obituary for William Edward "Woody" Woods

William Edward “Ed” “Woody” Woods, 83, Clymer, unexpectedly died at his home, Wednesday, September 26, 2018. Born in Boliver, March 12, 1935, he was a son of the late, Ernest and Annie (Lambing) Woods He was the widower of Sandra M. (Chilenski) Woods who died January 6, 2002 following 43 years of marriage.

Ed retired from PennDot after working 32 years on our area roadways. He served in the Pennsylvania National Guard during the Korean War and was a member of the Clymer American Legion, Post 222. He was also a life member of the Clymer Slovak Club.

Ed was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He also enjoyed visiting local community fairs and festivals and served on the Clymer Days Committee. He had just attended Clymer Days this past weekend. Ed truly loved visiting and talking with his many friends. He also liked taking car rides through the area and being with his family that he dearly loved.

Ed will be remembered by his children: Patricia Woods, Clymer; Connie (Woods) Maybury (Marvin), Mummasburg; Donna (Woods) Nehrig, Indiana; Thomas Woods, Clymer and Susan (Woods) Wright (Jim), Homer City. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jessica Simon, Tyler Nehrig, Stephanie Nehrig and great granddaughter, Sydney Simon. He is also survived by the following sisters: Virginia "Jean" Austin, Aileen Godfrey and Dorothy "Elaine" Carrigan. Other surviving family members include his many brothers and sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Ed was preceded in death by the siblings: Helen Fulcomer, Irene Frain Dunmire, Cecilia Mae Babyak, Geraldine Blystone, Mary Johns, Robert Woods, Floyd Woods, James Woods, Leonard Woods and infant Donald Woods. Other preceded family members were several brothers and sisters-in-law.

Friends will be received Friday, September 28th from 2:00 until 4:00 and 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Clymer. His funeral will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Rev. Robert White Will officiate. Interment will be at the Diamondville Cemetery.
