I had worked for Ray for several months and knew well that he was a hard worker when I got a coveted invitation to go waterskiing. I managed to get up on two skies and made it a couple lengths of the lake. After several others skied Ray said to me "You're Up". After I jumped in he only threw me one ski and I said "This is only my second time" and he said "Your ready". We were the last boat off the lake which I would come to find out would be the norm. I already knew Ray was a man of few words and was not surprised to find out he played hard too.

Edith Cerovich
It was because of Ray, that my son, John Cerovich met the girl of his dreams. When John was 16 years old, I thought he needed a little job. One day I stopped in the 700 Shop to get Ray's opinion about a job for John. Ray said,"Send John up to meet me, and I will take him around to the shops on Philadelphia Street to see if anyone can use him." After John went up and Ray met him, he called me to say he would like to hire him. Soon after was John's first day of work at Ray's store. He was to work at a sidewalk sale. I drove up Philadelphia Street to see how John was doing on my lunch hour. When I drove by, John and this pretty little blonde girl had their heads together checking out shirts. That evening at dinner, I told John He shouldn't be talking to the little girl when he's working. He said, "That was Leslie, Ray's daughter, and that they were working together". That was the beginning of their romance. I thank Ray for being a wonderful person. When Ray had the opportunity, he helped many people in his community and elsewhere. He was a role model.
