Obituary for Robert Vislosky

Dr. Robert J. Vislosky, 91, of Indiana, died peacefully Friday, December 21, 2018 at Golden Heights Personal Care Home, Irwin. Born in Pittsburgh on March 3, 1927, he was the son of the late Julius Vislosky and Julia (Santa) Vislosky. For 64 years, he was the devoted husband of the former Rita Ann Imgrund.

Robert was a member of the United States Air Force, serving in WWII. After the military, he went to Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, where he completed his undergraduate degree. He then received his Doctorate degree in Art Education from Pennsylvania State University and went on to become a professor at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania until his retirement.

Robert loved his family, his friends, his church, and was passionate about education. He also enjoyed reading, flying, and traveling to different places with his wife Rita, and going for walks and exploring nature.

He was an active member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church for over 45 years.

He will be missed by his wife, Rita Vislosky, Indiana, and by his children: Paul Vislosky, Louisville, KY; Roberta Yates (David), Boone, NC; David Vislosky (Kimberly), Lafayette, CO; and Philip Vislosky (Shari), Irwin. He will also be remembered by his seven grandchildren: Sam, Julia, Jillian, Michael, Leah, Luke and Ryan along with his sisters: Arlene Sebastian and Vilma Filipiak.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Marianne.

Friends will be received, Friday, December 28th from 5 until 7 PM at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning at 11 AM at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
