Obituary for James F. Cawley Sr.
James Francis Cawley, Sr., 82, of Indiana, died Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the Communities at Indian Haven where he had resided for several months. Born in Altoona, June 9, 1936, he was a son of the late Edgar J. Cawley and Catherine M. (Reiland) Cawley. He was the husband of Elaine L. (Dodson) Cawley, whom he married 59 years ago on January 30, 1960.
He served as a U.S. Naval Reservist during much of the 1950’s.
He is remembered by many in the Indiana area where he worked for several decades as a Certified Public Accountant. He was a member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church of Indiana. James was previously a member of the following organizations: the Elks Club of Indiana, Lodge # 931; the Fraternal Order of Eagles # 1468 of Indiana; the Indiana Country Club, as well as the American Institute of CPA’s and the Pennsylvania Institute of CPA’s.
In addition to his wife, Elaine, James is survived by his children: James F. Cawley, Jr. (Diane), Robindale Heights; Dr. John P. Cawley (Heather), Pittsburgh; Marianne Cawley (Bob Olszewski), Lower Burrell; and Thomas L. Cawley (Chris Hayes), Phoenix, AZ. He is also survived by the following grandchildren: Jessica Pecsenye; Erica Pecsenye; Chelsea Cawley; Kaitlin Cawley; Kevin Cawley and Elizabeth Cawley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Cawley.
Friends will be received, Saturday, January 5th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and again on Sunday, January 6th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday morning at 10 AM at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church. Entombment will be at the St. Bernard Cemetery Mausoleum.
