Obituary for Sally Lee Bence (Scoggin)
Sally (Scoggin) Bence, 93, of Indiana, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Maple Valley Personal Care Home, Armstrong Township. The daughter of the late Cecelia Gorman, she was born August 29, 1925, in Indiana. She was the widow of James L. Bence, who passed away in 2004.
Sally was a 1943 graduate of Indiana High School and was employed with the Bell Telephone Company until her retirement in 1982.
She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Indiana.
Sally loved spending time with her family, she also enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, and her Tuesday morning bowling league until age 90. Sally still continued to play in her monthly poker club and weekly 500 groups until last year.
She is survived by her four children: Jim Bence and wife Bev of Homer City, Linda Kimmell and fiancé Ed Parks of Dayton, Ed Bence and wife Becky of Blairsville, and Doug Bence and wife Margie of Winchendon, MA. She will also be missed by eight grandchildren: Jim Bence, Jason Bence, Jill Holley, Hayden Bence, Brandi Kimmell, Shawn Bence, Brandi Ruth, Laura Buell; 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter.
In addition to her mother and husband, Sally was preceded in death by her son- in- law Don Kimmell, who passed away in 2001.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, March 12th, from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home, Indiana. Her funeral service will be Wednesday morning, March 13th at 10:30 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Sarah Aasheim officiating. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Indiana.
