Obituary for Miriam Elizabeth Dimit (Hood)
Miriam Elizabeth (Hood), Dimit 93, of Indiana, died May 18, 2019 at the Communities of Indian Haven. Born September 26, 1925, she was the daughter of Augustus Ehrenfeld Hood and Agnes (Boucher) Hood.
Miriam was a homemaker and a former County Auditor. She trained to be an RN while serving in the US Army Cadet Corps. She was a Ruling Elder of Calvary Presbyterian Church. Miriam also held memberships in the Grange, Zonta, Daughters of the American Colonists and the Democratic Women. She was a life member of the Indiana County Historical Society.
Miriam is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Beatty; her daughter Sallie E. Battick; grandchildren William J. Allison, III and Jason Augustus Allison; six great grandchildren; and by her brother, George E. Hood.
Preceded in death by her parents and brother, Frank.
Memorial donations may be offered to Indiana County Historical Society 621 Wayne Avenue Indiana, PA 15701 or Calvary Presbyterian Church 695 School Street, Indiana.
Her memorial service will be held at Calvary Presbyterian Church on Thursday, June 6 at 11:00 AM, Rev. David Hanna officiating.
