Obituary for Irene Romanie (Wojcik)
Irene (Wojcik) Romanie, 87, of Creekside, died Sunday, May 19, 2019, at the Vincentian Home, Pittsburgh.
She was a daughter of Walter and Nellie (Wojcik) Wojcik, born June 17, 1931, in Clymer. She was proud to be a first-generation American, the daughter of Polish immigrants. Mrs. Romanie was a dedicated homemaker and a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Ernest. She especially enjoyed crocheting, sewing, riding bikes, going on picnics, hosting family dinners, taking pictures, dancing to and listening to polka music, shopping with her daughter, collecting paper dolls and attending her great-granddaughter’s school events and theatrical performances. She also enjoyed spending time with friends and family and playing with her great-grandpuppy Buster.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Susan Weaver, and her husband, Raymond I. Weaver; a granddaughter, Dr. Jackie Weaver-Agostoni and husband Jason, of Wexford; and her great-granddaughter, 12-year-old Skyler M. Agostoni, all of whom she loved with all her heart and cherished every minute that she spent with them.
Irene also is survived by her sister, Mildred and husband Elmer Ogoreuc, of Indiana; brother Walter Wojcik and wife Dolly, of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; and special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Tony (2010), whom she married November 6, 1948; sisters Laura Steffish and brother-in-law Rudy, and Genevieve Rokosky and brother-in-law Willie; and two infant sisters, Virginia and Mary.
The family gives special thanks to neighbors Bev Johnson and her late husband Gary for help when it was needed; to her friend and hairdresser, Chris, who always did her hair just right and always put a smile on her face; to her physician, Dr. Tim Wong, and his office staff; and to the caring staff of Vincentian Home.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home, Inc., 965 Philadelphia St., Indiana.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father George Saletrik at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Church of Resurrection, Ernest. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Indiana.
