Obituary for Kenneth Paul McKendrick

Kenneth Paul McKendrick, 59, of Indiana, died unexpectedly at his home, Sunday, May 19, 2019. Born August 23, 1959, he was a son of Joseph E. McKendrick and Lois Charleen West.

Kenneth was a member of Saving Grace Church in Indiana and Dixonville Wesleyan Church in Dixonville. He previously had worked as a security guard. Ken was an avid fisherman who loved the outdoors and going to the beach, especially Ocean City, Maryland. He enjoyed movies and going on long car rides. Most of all, he will be remembered as a devoted grandfather who loved his grandchildren.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 37 years, Beverly (Hopkins) McKendrick, who died in 2018. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Krystle May McKendrick, who died in 2017; his grandson, Dalton McKendrick in 2015; and his siblings Mark and Todd McKendrick and Peggie Leightley.

He is survived by his children Kenny “Paulie” McKendrick II (Susan); Jonathan McKendrick (Alysha) and Christopher Hopkins, all of Indiana. The following siblings survive him: JoAnne Olechoveski (Mike), of North Carolina; Jeffrey McKendrick (Pam), of McIntyre; Daryla Sigafoes (Bill), of Blairsville; and Jolene Short (Jim), of Indiana. He is also survived by nine grandchildren who will miss him dearly: Kenneth Mckendrick III, whom he raised, Sarah Coffman, Gabriella McKendrick, Jonah Mckendrick, Ayriauna Mckendrick, Joseph Mckendrick, Noah Greenlee, Lucas McKendrick, Peyton Mckendrick. Other survivors include his many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Saturday, May 25th from 5-7PM at Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home, of Indiana. His service will be held at the funeral home at 7Pm, Rev. Paul Wallace officiating.
