Obituary for Louise E. Kubala (Sicchitano)

Louise Elaine Sicchitano Kubala, of Indiana, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2019 at the age of 97 at The Communities at Indiana Haven.

Born November 4, 1921, in Bentleyville, Pa., she was the daughter of Antonio and Nicolena Sicchitano. Louise was a 1941 graduate of Bentleyville High School where she met Henry Kubala, her husband of 66 years until his passing in 2007.

Louise had a life of service to others, especially during World War II as a young woman traveling
across the country by train to serve in various civilian positions as secretary and bookkeeper, and
worked in the War Department support facilities in San Francisco and Long Beach, California.

After the war she and her husband made their home in Bentleyville, Pa near her parents and eleven brothers and sisters. An avid cook and baker, she also enjoyed reading and kept current on most events in the news, always ready to discuss what was happening in the world and locally. After moving to Indiana in 1995 she became a fan of IUP and its sports teams, and especially enjoyed meeting IUP nursing students who visited Rose Haven, her last residence.

She was a member of St. Luke Roman Catholic Parish in Bentleyville and joined St. Bernards
Parish upon moving to Indiana.

Louise is survived by two sons, Larry (Barbara) of Indiana and Neal (BevAnn) of Lewes, DE.,
three grandchildren, Michael (Elizabeth) of Cicero, NY, Adam of Lewes, Natalie Coll (Michael) of
Columbia, SC and three great-grandchildren, Zachary, Joshua and Lindsey, all of Cicero.

In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, and her siblings.

As per her request there will be no viewing. The Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Indiana will
make arrangements for a private service and entombment at St Bernard Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Foundation for IUP for the benefit of the IUP School of Nursing or to a charity of one's choice in Louise's memory.
