Obituary for Rothard Earl Johns
Rothard Earl Johns, 89, of Diamondville, passed away September 14, 2019. Born March 29, 1930 in Green Township, he was a son of the late Earl Johns and Blanche (Laney) Johns. He married Theda Mae (Sensabaugh) December 16, 1950; they were married for 68 years.
Rothard graduated from Green Township High School and went on to work at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, retiring in 1991.
He enjoyed stock car racing, tractor pulls at the Cookport Fair, and he especially loved watching his grandchildren play sports.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Yvonne Johns of Indiana, and Richard Johns, and his wife, Cindy, of Pine Flats; his grandchildren: Richard Johns (Jessicca), Vandergrift; Brian Johns (Sarah), Douglas, WY; and Carrie Gray (Trenton), of Gillette, WY. He will also be missed by his great-grandchildren: Abigail, Hannah, and Rachel Johns, of Vandergrift; Emma, Addison, and Caleb Johns, of Douglas, WY; and Isabella, Isaac, and Oliver Gray, of Gillette, WY; his siblings: Donald Johns (Helen), of Carrolltown, and Lavada Sensabaugh of Commodore, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Rothard was preceded in death by his sisters, Velma and Wilma.
Friends will be received Saturday, September 21st from 11 until 1 PM, with the funeral service to directly follow at the Rairigh- Bence Funeral Home, of Clymer. Pastor Kathy Mihoerck will officiate. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the former Rustic Lodge Personal Care Home, Tammy and the staff of Sunnyhill Personal Care Home and Rothard’s team of caregivers from VNA Hospice for the excellent care they provided.
