Obituary for Aurelius Francis "Ray" Previte

Aurelius Francis, "Ray", Previte, 94 of Indiana, died Thursday, September 19, 2019 at his home. A son of Frank and Marianne (Strommillo) Previte was born June 28, 1925 in Frostburg, Pa.

Mr. Previte was a life-long member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church. He graduated from Indiana High School and attended Indiana State Teachers College. Ray lived most of his life in Indiana and retired after 60 years of service at the Indiana Music House serving the public in retail sales, repairs and teaching music lessons. He was a veteran of World War II having served on Saipan and Okinawa where he received a bronze star for each campaign. He also served in the occupation army in Korea for six months.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Maxine (Kramp) Previte; his son Francis; his parents; brothers, Joseph, Columbo, and Ben; and sisters, Mary and Angeline and a great-grandson, James Aurelius.

Surviving are his three sons, John and wife Linda of Indiana; Joseph and friend Susan of Indiana, and Ray of Rochester Mills; and one daughter Mary Louise (Sis) Moorhead and husband Dennis of Indiana and daughter-in-law Merry of Indiana. Ray is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Jill Berkebile (Josh), Jennifer Johnson, and Nicholas Moorhead (Gwen); Shelly Canale (Thomas), Jonathan Previte (Jessica); Joseph Previte (Christina), Kimberly Long (Eli); Jason Previte (Chrissy), Maria Lowman, and Anthony Previte (Michelle). He was blessed with 18 great-grandchildren.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday morning, September 23rd at ten o’clock at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church in Indiana followed by military services. Interment will follow in the St. Bernard Cemetery. Rairigh- Bence Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
