Obituary for June L. McKinney (Henderson)

June “Junebug” Louise (Henderson) McKinney, 97, of Indiana, died Saturday, September 29, 2019 at the Scenery Hill Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Indiana. Born in Boliver, June 28, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Frank Henderson and Bessie (Muir) Henderson. She was the widow of Samuel G. McKinney, who died December 7, 1983.

June was a graduate of Boliver High School. After her marriage she worked at home helping to raise her daughters, Janet and Joan. She enjoyed baking for her family and playing golf whenever she was able.

She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Indiana where she was an active volunteer with church projects and activities. In her later years she attended the Church of Christ in Bolivar. She also helped with Meals On Wheels.

June is survived by her daughter, Janet E. McKinney, Indiana. Other surviving family members include: grandson, Eric Materkowski (Cara), Bethel Park; grandson, Paul Derry (Katie), Port Clinton, OH; great grandchildren: Ian Materkowski; Zoe Materkowski and Samuel Derry; her sister, Ethel Silk, and by her nieces and nephews..

In addition to her parents and husband, June was preceded in death by her daughter, Joan Materkowski; son-in-law, Tony Materkowski; grandaughter, Ann Materkowski; siblings: Willis, Arthur and Ernest Henderson, Nettie Henderson, Jenny Haddell, Ada Fulcomer, Jean Neiport and Ruth Krompholtz.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, October 1st from Noon until 1pm the time of service at the Grace United Methodist Church, Indiana. Pastor Kathy Mihoerck will officiate. Interment will be at the Ft. Palmer Cemetery, Ligonier. The McKinney Family is being assisted by the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home, Indiana.
