Obituary for Charles Lee Edwards

Charles “Lee” Edwards, 73, of Indiana, died Friday, December 13, 2019 at St. Andrew’s Village, Indiana. Born, July 1, 1946 in Indiana, he was a son of the late Dr. Frank G. Edwards and Louise (McMillen) Edwards. He was the husband of Helen (Erickson) Edwards. They were married for 52 years.

Lee received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education at IUP, he later earned a master’s degree in counseling from Duquesne University. He went on to be a guidance counselor for Indiana Area Junior and Senior High Schools, where he worked for the duration of his career.

Lee loved his job, and deeply cared for his students and colleagues. Many of whom became lifelong friends. He was known as a practical joker; he loved to make people smile and laugh, and would enjoy playing the occasional prank. Lee also liked to garden and restore antiques, but most of all; Lee’s true happiness came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, Indiana.

In addition to his wife, Lee is survived by his children: Dr. Timothy Edwards and wife Amy, of Dublin, OH; and Jennifer Bianco and husband Tom, of Indiana. He will also be missed by his grandchildren: Claire, Ally, and Lilly Edwards, and Ben, Simon, Caroline, and Natalie Bianco; and the following siblings: Raymond Edwards and wife Sandy, of Indiana; Dr. Debby Edwards, of Indiana; and Jim Edwards and wife Diane, of Washington.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends will be received Thursday, December 19th from 4 until 7 PM at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home, of Indiana. Lee’s Funeral Service will be held Friday, December 20th at 11AM at the Calvary Presbyterian Church, Indiana with Reverend David J. Hanna officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery, Indiana.
