Obituary for Joseph Miles Pearce

Joseph Miles Pearce, 79, of Glen Campbell, died Saturday, January 18, 2020 at his home. Born on August 12, 1940 in Burnside Township, Clearfield County, he was a son of the late Benjamin Charles Pearce and Mildred Louise (Smith) Pearce. For the last 59 years he’s been the loving and caring husband of Barbara Ann (Conner) Pearce.

Joe was a graduate of Purchase Line High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Cold War. He was a coal miner for 40 years, having worked for Barnes and Tucker and Greenwich Collieries, where he was well respected by his fellow co-workers.

Joe loved baseball and was an advocate of local baseball in the Glen Campbell area where he managed little league and pony league teams for many years.

Most importantly, Joe loved his family and treasured the time he had with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was a member of the Glen Campbell United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, Barbara Ann, Joe is survived by his children: Michele Rae Lamkie, Glen Campbell; Joseph Edward Pearce, Glen Campbell, Harold James Pearce, Glen Campbell; Katrina Kay Sowers, Indiana; Camille Renee Pearce, Indiana. He will also be missed by his 17 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. His surviving siblings are: Jackson Pearce (Cornell), Hillsdale; Shirley Baum, Northern Cambria and Nancy Baum (Ronald), Clearfield. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: parents; daughter, Lisa Kimberly Pearce; mother-in-law, Agnes Conner; brother-in-law, Arthur Conner and brother-in-law, Donald Baum,.

A visitation will be held Friday, January 24th from 5 to 7 PM at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Clymer. A Memorial Service will begin at seven o’clock following the visitation hours. Inurnment will be at the Thompson Cemetery, Hillsdale.
