Obituary for Josephine Christine Valenti (Hudak)
Josephine Christine (Hudak) Valenti, 90, of Indiana, died Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at St. Clair Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born November 14, 1929, in Starford, she was a daughter of the late George Hudak and Susan (Dudik) Hudak. For more than 49 years, she was the wife of the late Joseph A. Valenti, Sr.
She worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone Company and had briefly worked as a waitress at the former Capitol Restaurant.
Josephine loved to cook for her family. She always enjoyed hosting family dinners and made sure there was always enough food for everyone. She also enjoyed attending luncheons, going to card parties, crafting and sewing.
She belonged to St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church, Indiana where she was an active member who regularly helped with fundraisers. Josephine especially enjoyed working on church bake sales, cookbooks and garage sales. She was also quite active with the Catholic Daughters of America, Court St. Bernard # 339.
She is survived by her sons, Joseph A. Valenti, Jr. and his wife, Pamela, of Bridgeville; and Mark D. Valenti, of Brooklyn, NY. She will also be missed by her grandchildren: Michael, Lauren, and Chelsea Valenti; great grandchildren: Blake Valenti and Mia Powell, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, and husband, Josephine was preceded in death by her siblings: Joseph Hudak, Michael Hudak, Leonard Hudak, Mary Straka, Helen Wisniewski, Julia Hilborn, Rose Benton, George Hudak, John Hudak, and Sue Dinallo.
Friends will be received Friday, January 31st from 2:00 until 7:00 PM at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, February 1st at twelve o’clock noon at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church, Indiana. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
