Obituary for Clifford "Curley" Wilson

Clifford “Curley” Wilson, 88 of Elyria Township, Ohio, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Mercy New Life Hospice, Lorain, Ohio. He was born in Cherry Tree, Pennsylvania and had been a resident of Elyria and Elyria Twp., since 1951.

Curley proudly served in the U.S. Army stationed at Moses Lake Washington. He was employed by several machine shops in Elyria including Brown Fin Tube, Lear, and Ridge Tool. In 1971, he founded C.E. Machine Products in Elyria Township which he operated for 25 years. He sold the business in 1996 the same year he retired. Early in his retirement, he spent a lot of time in Red Brush, PA at his hunting camp. His wife (Elaine) often told the story of how he only ever shot one turkey and that was because he was napping in the woods and woke to find the gobbler standing at his feet. Curley was an avid league bowler at Stoney’s and Redman’s for many years. Up until a few years ago, he was still buying and selling machines never losing his entrepreneurial spirit!

Survivors include his son Clifford E. (Melanie); daughter-in-law Julee Wilson; grandchildren, Jessica Sen (Jerry), William Cody Wilson (Meredith); great-granddaughter, Josephine Ruth Sen; step grandchildren Jessica, Jacquelyn, Jason and Janice; 13 step great-grandchildren and sister Dorothy Judson.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Mary Elaine (Hritcko) in 2018; daughter, Deidre Anne (1957); son, Timothy Edward (2016); his parents, Wilbert Wilson and Audrey (Rummel) Getty, stepfather, Bill Getty; and brothers, James Wilson and Billy Getty.

A private graveside service will be held at St. Michael’s Orthodox Greek Catholic Cemetery.
