Obituary for Dr. C. William Lauver, DDS

Dr. C. William Lauver, DDS, 89, of Indiana, died Thursday, April 16, 2020 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center. Born in Altoona, November 17, 1930 he was a son of the late Dr. William W. Lauver and Madeline (Brown) Lauver. He was the widower of Doris L. (Irvin) Lauver who died June 21, 2008.

Bill graduated from Altoona High and attended Juniata College before joining the U.S. Air Force where he served as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean War. After the war he earned a degree in biology from Penn State University. He continued his studies at the University of Pittsburgh Dental School where he earned his dental degree and certification as a dental surgeon.

Dr. Lauver practiced dentistry for over 50 years in Indiana and Spruce Creek retiring in 2010.

He was a member of the Indiana Country Club, Indiana Elks Club, Indiana Rotary where he was past president, F&AM in Altoona and was a member of the American Dental Society. He was elected as a member of the International Honor Dental Organization (Pierre Fauchard Academy). Bill was a former member of the Indiana/White Twp. Water Authority and was a former member and chairman of the Indiana Airport Authority, he was a member of the Altoona, Jaffa Shriner Club. He was a longtime member of the Graystone Presbyterian Church. He will be remembered for his commitment and dedication to the growth of his family and community.

Bill enjoyed smoking his pipe, flying his airplane, playing golf and being with his family.

He is being remembered by his children: William W. Lauver, Morgantown, WV; Christine Crock, Pottstown and Mark D. Lauver (Sue Ann), Indiana. His surviving grandchildren are: Victoria Lauver, Christopher Lauver, Keaton Lauver, Steven Lauver, Alex Crock, Christina Lauver and Donovan Lauver.

In addition to his wife, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, D. Oliver Lauver; infant brother, Samuel Joseph Lauver and son-in-law, David W.Crock.

Due to the Covid – 19 pandemic, service arrangements are private. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. The Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Indiana is assisting the Lauver Family.
