Obituary for Charles Leroy Slippy

Charles Leroy Slippy, 88, of Pine Flats, died Monday, April 27, 2020 at his home. Born in Penn Run, March 31, 1932, he was a son of the late Fred Slippy and Sara (Stephens) Slippy. He was the widower of Shirley (Roberts) Slippy who passed away August 20, 2008.

Charles served in the US Army during the Korean War. After his service, he went on to become a welder, working for Bethlehem Steel in Johnstown for 34 years, retiring in 1984.

Charles truly loved the outdoors, especially farming and hunting.

He was a member of the Homer City American Legion.

He is survived by his children: Suzette A. Kelley & husband Kevin, Pittsburgh; Timothy L. Slippy, Indiana; and Diana L. Fader & husband Michael, Pittsburgh. He will also be missed by his grandchildren: Mark and Chad Kelley, and Sarah and Erin Fader; all of Pittsburgh; his sisters: Mildred Altemus (Charles) and Donna Houser (John), both of Penn Run; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Charles was preceded in death by his daughter, Christine Slippy and his brother, Lester Slippy.

Due to the Covid – 19 pandemic, service arrangements are private. Pastor Stephen Bond will officiate. Burial will be at the Pine Flats Cemetery.
