Obituary for Mario E. Andrie

Mario Ernest Andrie, 89, of Indiana died, Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at Communities at Indian Haven. Mario was born June 21, 1930 in Homer City to the late Marco Andrie and Neuta (Oldani) Andrie. He was the widower of Catherine Louise (Renosky) Andrie, who died November 2, 2016; they were married 59 years.

Mario served in the US Navy on the USS Oriskany during the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the Indiana V.F.W. Post 1989. Following the war Mario began a career as a local banker, becoming a Vice President at S&T Bank where he worked for more than 34 years, retiring in 1989.

Mario was an avid accordion player since the age of seven and entertained troops during the Korean War. He was the leader of the Jet Tones, a band that played in the Indiana Area for more than 40 years. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking and making wine. He enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends throughout his lifetime.

Mario was a member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church, Indiana.

He will be remembered by his four children: Darlene Catherine Andrie, Indiana; Denise Anne Shildt and husband Ken, Indiana; Mario Douglas Andrie and wife, Norma, Reedsville, PA and Michelle Lynn Andrie, residing in Lothian, MD. His grandsons: Dr. Joseph Andrie and wife, Laura and Thomas Andrie. His great granddaughter is Isabella Andrie. Mario is also survived by his brother, Norman Andrie, of San Pedro, CA.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, service arrangements are private. Entombment will take place in the St. Bernard Cemetery Mausoleum. The Andrie Family is being assisted by the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Indiana. A webcast of the funeral service will appear on the funeral home website on Saturday, May 2nd.
