Obituary for Erik David Dixon

Erik David Dixon, 44 of Penn Run, unexpectedly died Sunday, June 14th at the Indiana Regional Medical Center. Born in Indiana on May 26, 1976 he was the son of Jeri Lynn (Johns) Kane of Indiana and Michael Dennis Dixon. He was the husband of Breanna R. (Wellen) Dixon, whom he married November 25, 2015. They were best friends for years prior to their marriage.

Erik and Breanna worked together and were the co-owners of DXW Services, LLC of Indiana. Erik was a very kind hearted man who loved the outdoors, riding his UTV’s and spending time at his camp near Marion Center. He also enjoyed operating heavy equipment, especially his dozer and excavator. Erik traveled to help at “Ground Zero” in New York City following the September 11th attack in 2001. Then in 2010 both Erik and Breanna helped with the BP Oil Spill cleanup in Louisiana.

He was a loving husband and father who adored his family and loved being with his children. Erik was a retired Life Member of the Pine Township Fire Company where he was a former assistant chief.

In addition to his wife, Breanna, Erik will be sadly missed by his children: Jilliann Wellen, Erik Dixon and Cayden Babula, all of whom live at home in Penn Run; Erika Dixon and Kathleen Dixon, both of Clymer; Kaytlin Dixon, Nanty Glo; Allison Dixon (Fiancé /Nathan) Terra Alta WV; and Lisa Hopper (Will), New Bethlehem. Erik is also remembered by his granddaughter, Layla; niece, Chloe Mobus; father, David Boback, Dixonville; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Junior and Cathy Newlin, Penn Run and brother-in-law, Nicholas Mobus, Penn Run.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roe and Patricia Johns; step-father, Jim Kane and uncle, Raymond Johns.

Friends will be received Thursday, June 18th from 1:00 until 5:00 PM at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Clymer. Face masks and social distancing will be required. Following the visitation, cremation will occur at the Rairigh-Bence Crematory. Interment arrangements are private.
