Anna Margaret  Banks (Mayer)
Anna Margaret (Mayer) Banks, 98 of Indiana, PA passed away at the home of her daughter, Carol Ann Posavitz in Fort Worth, TX on Friday December 9, 2016. She would have celebrated her 99th birthday on Dec. 24th. Born in Frederick, MD on December 24, 1917, she was the daughter of the late, Charles Henry Mayer and Mary Eleanor (Young) Mayer. She was also the widow of Elwood A. Banks who died July 14, 1966.

Mrs. Banks studied at Millersville State Teachers College and Indiana State Teachers College where she earned a B.S. in Elementary Education. She became an elementary teacher in the Indiana Area School District and taught at Horace Mann and East Pike elementary schools.

She was a member of the B.P.W., the Evergreen Chapter of the AARP and was a volunteer with the Indiana Hospital Auxiliary. Anna also belonged to St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church, Indiana.

Anna Margaret will be remembered by her children: Elwood Paul Banks and wife, Karen Isenberg, Indiana; Carol Posavitz, Fort Worth, TX; Mary Susan Alexander & husband, Pete, Indiana, PA; and Margaret Jane Banks & husband, Genaro Alonso, Tolar, TX. She will also be remembered by her eight grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren and a brother, Paul F. Mayer.

Friends will be received Wednesday, January 4th, 2017 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday morning, January 5th at 10 AM at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in the St. Bernard Cemetery.
