Obituary for Daniel Patrick Rich
Daniel Patrick Rich, 19, of Robinson, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, in Cambria County, PA. The son of Kenneth V. and Patricia A. Rich, he was born June 27, 1997, in Indiana, PA.
Daniel attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he was a Sutton Scholarship recipient. He was also assistant marching band director at United High School in Armagh. Daniel was a talented percussionist, who adored music and played the keyboard, acoustic guitar, and ukulele. He was a former member of the percussion section of the Blairsville Community Band.
He was a 2015 graduate of United High School, where he was a leader of the Drum Line of the United Marching Band and a percussionist in the Jazz Band. Daniel was a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. He performed in many dramas and musicals while at United, including an unforgettable performance in the role of Donkey in Shrek – the Musical during his Senior year.
Surviving are his parents, of Robinson; a brother, Michael Rich of Edinboro, whom he loved dearly; a sister-in-law, Heidi Rich; nephew, Xavier; maternal grandmothers, Betty J. Rich, Windber, and Betsy Pray, Levittown; two aunts, Kim Henderson, Levittown, and Jennifer Falkevitz and husband, Rick, Langhorne; two uncles, Thomas Jackson, Maryland, and Michael Smith, Levittown; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfathers, Joseph J. Rich and William Pray; and three aunts: Catherine Pace, Cay Jackson and Linda Smith.
Friends will be received from 3-5 and 7-8:30 with a Parish Wake Service to be held at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Indiana. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday, January 23rd at 10AM at Ss. Simon and Jude Parish, 155 N. Brady Street, Blairsville, PA.
Memorial donations may be made to United Music Boosters, 10780 Route 56 Hwy East, Armagh, PA 15920.
