Obituary for Philip Mack

Philip Mack
Rev. Philip Logan Mack, 74, of Clymer, entered his eternal home with his family by his side, Monday evening, October 16, 2017. Born in Strongstown on June 12, 1943, he was a son of the late Logan Mack and Loretta (Boring) Mack. He married the former Dolores Marsh, October 26, 1962. In just over a week they would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.

Philip was a graduate of Penns Manor High School. Philip was employed as a maintenance worker at the former Brody’s Department Store in Indiana. A job he held for 25 and a half years until the store closed. Philip started his own business, Mack's BRM, where he contracted with Rite Aid Pharmacy. After retiring from his business, he was a mail carrier for the Amfire Coal Company.

Philip’s passion was his ministry. He was ordained in April 1975. Over the years he ministered at the following churches in the area: Laurel Swamp Church, Clymer; Gospel Community Church, Dilltown; Clymer Gospel Mission Church. His last ministry was at the Christ Bible Fellowship Church for the past 16 years. Throughout his ministries he developed a deep passion for all his parishioners.

On a personal note, Philip enjoyed working and remodeling his home in Clymer, a job he tackled mainly by himself. He also loved older cars and was quite fond of his 1949 Dodge.

In addition to his wife Dolores, Rev. Mack is survived by his children: Gary P. Mack (Karen Kirkland), Indiana; Connie D. Trinkley (Todd), Clymer; and Larry L. Mack, Blairsville. He will also be missed by his grandchildren: Zachary Adamson, Nathaniel Mack (Jenna Fisher), Jeran Adamson, Megan Peak, Joshua Mack, Logan Mack and Collin Trinkley. Philip’s surviving siblings are: James C. Mack (Elaine), Plumville, Naomi Weiserman (William), Nolo and Ruth Ann Simon (Rodney), Shippensburg.

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 19th from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 PM at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Clymer. Another hour of visitation will be held Friday from noon until 1 PM, the time of his funeral service at Christ Bible Fellowship Church, 178 Old Highway 119 S, Indiana, PA. Rev. Prewitt Duncan and Rev. Joe Smith will officiate. Interment will follow at the Oakland Cemetery, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice of Indiana County, 850 Hospital Road, Suite 3000, Indiana, PA 15701.
