Anthony Bailey Aylward “Tatt” Orchard, 27, of Indiana, unexpectedly died at his home, Monday, September 2, 2019. Born January 9, 1992 in Oxford, England, he is a son of Robyn Lee Bailey-Orchard of Indiana and Christopher Orchard of Harrisburg.

Tatt graduated from Indiana Area High School. He worked as a cook at various restaurants in the Indiana area and had most recently worked at Brunzies.

He loved his friends, who will remember his kind heart and giving nature. Tatt was blessed with a terrific sense of humor and the ability to talk with anyone about anything. He had an incredible memory and would often impress his family and friends with the many little-known facts he could remember. He had many aspirations throughout his life for eclectic careers that ranged from history professor to National Parks ranger to professional chef.

He will be dearly missed by his parents and by his brother, Jeremy “Jem” Bailey-Orchard of Arlington, VA. Tatt will also be missed by his paternal grandparents, Ken and Christine Orchard of Kent England. Other family include his uncles and aunts, Kevin and Andrea Bailey, Jacksonville, FL, Marion Orchard, Spain, Timothy and Jennifer Orchard and cousin Maddie, Bath, England, and his mother’s cousin, Gary King Smallwood II, Richmond, VA. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Gordon and Phyllis Bailey.

Friends will be received Saturday, September 7th from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7PM at the Rairigh- Bence Funeral Home, Indiana. A Celebration of Life Service will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made Christ Our Savior Orthodox Church, P.O. Box 1101, Indiana, PA 15701 or to the Alice Paul House, PO Box 417, Indiana, PA 15701.

To share one memory is not enough. Though I only worked with Tatt at Sinobi a short while I can say so many positive things about him. I don't believe he had a dark side. He was a truely genuine soul with an open mind to everything. The way his mind worked amazed me, all the knowledge he possesed. Morning shift was hard for him but made me laugh. He'd ask me to just not talk to him yet. When he was fully awake it was a treat to watch him cook. He was completely in his element. When I made sushi he would encourage me to do better. I remember like it was yesterday he saw one of my first rolls and said "you proud of that?" Like he knew i could do better. I will forever miss the Sinobi days. Rest in peace "my fellow".

Tatt, I never knew you had such a long name. I only knew you as Tatt.
I’m Jordan. I married Jane in June. You were at our wedding. To everyone reading this, I’m caught between explaining who I am and explaining to everyone how I know Tatt. I’ll try to do both.
Jane has been Tatt’s friend for years. She introduced Tatt to me my senior year of college. She warned me, she said “you might not like him, he’s different”. But from the second I met Tatt we hit it off. We joked, and he taught me many “little known facts”. The first night we met, Tatt and I stayed up all night… which wasn’t that uncommon in my college days. But, it still remember our funny conversations.

Tatt was a kind and nurturing soul who truly looked at you each time he spoke to you which is very rare. I was always amazed by his genuine care and concern for others, it will be truly missed.

I had the pleasure of counting Tatt among my friends during grade school in the Indiana area. While it has been many years since those days, I remember him immediately for his diverse sense of humor and kind personality. I'm deeply saddened to learn of his passing, but I'm thankful for having been able to know him.
